I saw this mind boggling comment on an article the other day, and I got distracted because in the middle of it the person told me to go read about how Tiger Woods sex-trafficks-women-and-children-especially, but I couldn’t not share the rest of it.  Sad thing is that this is in no way unusual, and I’ve read almost exactly this sort of reasoning all over the place, long before Tiger Woods crashed his car. Some of you might recognize this as a description of “rape-culture” but not the part about actual rape, just the part about how slutty women cause it. I checked out the comment poster’s blog and it was entirely rational, because entirely rational people are falling for this stuff. I think it’s because they don’t know a lot of sluts:

Wealthy and successful men …  have women offering to have sex with them, no strings attached (so they say). 

Ok, those women, apparently promiscuous liars, must have had different parents than those repressed virginal girls had. 

These women may be of some interest because they have been taught that simply by being touched (nevermind more-than-touched) by a powerful male, … they will have value. 

May be of some interest to whom? Science? What the fuck does “more than touched” mean, and why would I nevermind it? Did their parents teach them? – Oh, society I guess. …  I wonder what gives a woman value, anyway.

Young women who have been taught that the only way they can expect or hope to find someone who cares about them is by looking a certain way, which may require plastic surgery, then having wild sex (or pretending to) with lots of men in the pathetic hope one of those men will love them.  Now that is sad. 

More wow. What the hell? Who says women have to look a certain way to be cared about, and that it’ll take plastic surgery? Sounds like a sales trick to me.

How can a person start out describing how society makes boys into jerks, and girls into obedient virginal servants, and then immediately twist that and start blaming, or shaming, or whatever the hell this shit is, women who are the opposite of that obedient virginal servant? We can’t have it both ways, you know. And what’s any of it got to do with love, anyway? And if it did, since when is it pathetic to want to be loved? I guess we’re all pathetic. Even my cats, pathetic little kitties, omygodsoooocute. Total sluts, my cats are, they rub on me all the time like little whores. I say whores because I pay their rent.

These women, mostly nameless and faceless but existing in all parts of our country, are a sad reflectiong of our society because they reflect how our we devalue women.  Women are assumed to be weak, emotional, incompetent, dumb, silly, or no importance beyond serving as decorations. 

Well, last time I checked there were at least 11 women who are massively no longer nameless or faceless, well, ok 10 because one of them was just identified by her occupation, I think it was waitress. Or it might have been whore. Who can keep that stuff straight when it comes to sad reflections of society. Those women should try to be more repressed, but not too repressed, and virginal but not to virginal, obedient but not too obedient, and they should only be servants to their children.

Men are assumed to strong, logical, capable, smart, important, destined from birth to “run” things and make all the decisions in the home and in the country. 

Who’s assuming that stuff? Not me or any of the women I know, not after the age of 6 or so anyway. More like assumed to be big babies, logically challenged at best, capable or smart once you learn them right, important for helping to move furniture, and destined from birth to try to run things until you push them out of the way and get it done right. Men like to think that strong important stuff about themselves, only themselves though and not other men as a whole. Who doesn’t like to think that stuff about themselves? I think most of that stuff about myself, but in my case of course it is totally true. I think it’s my slutty cats that hold me back.

Too many of our men have no character at all because they are born good-looking, assumed to be smart and honest, and get away with everything.

“Our men” – I hate that. American Men? White Men? Middle Class Men? Our societies men? What the fuck does that mean? Where’d my friggin melting pot go?  I think Homeland Security did something with it. And … they are all born good-looking? What happened between then and now? Musta been all the broken noses from saloon fights when they went to town.  They won’t be trying to get away with anything now that they see what happened to Tiger I guess.

And here’s a radical thought:  just because women make themselves available does not mean that a married man is forced to have sex with them. 

 I know, just because some slut comes onto your husband, it’s not like you can go beat her up;  it’s not like she forced him. It’d be way cooler though if we could, right?  That’d teach those whores to stop tempting our men.  

He could use some control.

He could decide that his wife is too important for him to expose her to sexually transmitted diseases without her even knowing it.

He could decide that he would keep his word, respect his wife and teach his kids to do the same by example. 

Yeah, he could decide that. Too bad society spent so much time teaching him to be an adulterer; we should probably do more to tell people how important marriage is – the sanctity of it and all that. You almost never hear about traditional family values anymore. Next thing you know, the gays will be wanting to get hitched. It’d be chaos. Somebody has to think of the children.

He’s not retarded, not limited in resources, not working a back-breaking day far from home and all alone.

I can’t believe you went there. I’ll keep playing : I know, right?! I’d expect this sort of behavior from a retard. Retarded people don’t have morals, that’s why they are retarded. We probably shouldn’t even let people like that get married. It’s also well known that poor people lack morals, that’s why so many retarded people are poor. In fact it’s a great way to figure out who’s good and who’s bad, and we know not to waste much time worrying about people who don’t have any morals.  Besides, it’s hard to have morals when you’re so tired from working all day. They should get more money and work on their morals a little.

He’ll probably have to jump into a jet  and stay in it if he wants to get home, and I’m not entirely sure you thought through the physics on that one, and by that I mean the contraints of time, space and distance and stuff like that.  Besides, how would he have time to fuck so many sluts if he was flying all the time? I guess there is always a flight attendant, FA’s are notorious for their sluttery.

I bet she’d love that. She’s got to be sick of that huge house, and travel is the most fun when you have tiny children. What multimillionaire mom wouldn’t love her husband bringing her with him to exotic locations? How else would she get there if he didn’t!?

This isn’t a moral question.  It’s just a complete lack of character.  

I know, it’s totally not a normal question. — oh you said moral. Well, you’re right anyway, anyone with morals wouldn’t ask such a thing.

And in that, Woods is simply enjoying the perks of being a rich and powerful man in America.

Yep, Tiger Woods is a totally typical “rich and powerful man in America”. Except for, ya know, the skin color.
